Ever since I can remember, I have been interested in plants and gardening. Both my parents were passionate and seasoned gardeners and had lived through the war years supplementing the meagre rations with the 'bountiful produce' of their large, rambling garden.

No one had even invented the word "organic" yet, but it was very much the code by which they lived. Hard work, knowledge and care took the place of machinery and chemicals.

Like most of us, having been fairly unispired by a career in computing in an office environment, I decided to turn my passion into a career in 1983 by studying horticulture and conservation and later starting Growing Gardens in 1989... And we've been 'growing' ever since!

I've never lost the belief that anyone can have a beautiful and inspiring garden without using chemicals or having to devote every waking hour to its maintenance.

This web site is new and so I've only been able to include a tiny fraction of the work that I've done. My intention is to add new case studies as time goes on, but I hope that what's there will serve to at least give some ideas.
